Then Long ago, the continent lived peacefully. Then, a sudden outbreak of disease came over the land, affecting both humans and animals. At first, it was just a simple fever, some people had a cough. Then people couldn't get out of bed. Some went blind, others lost their hearing. When they coughed, their blood was black. Soon, the first Nightling was born, creatures that were tar black, mouths seemed to gone, and their eyes as white as snow. No one knew how to kill them, they didn't bleed, only leaked more and more black. The outbreak nearly destroyed the entire continent, until the only people left were pushed to the edges of either side.Not much is known about him, but a hero came. As the legend says, he wielded a silver blade in one hand, and carried stars in the other, with eyes of molten gold. He slew the beasts, leading the last of the people in an uprising. When the last of the Nightlings went into hiding, the hero formed the League of Adventurers, who would watch over the land in his place. He vanished a few nights later, and was never seen again. |
Now Now they live in the medieval era, with the continent split in two. The East, and the West, with thieves and rogues living in between. Nightlings only lived in the barren lands, and only came out at night. However, they've been getting braver, venturing out farther. Unless, their population is just getting bigger. Some deny it, some are scared the dark plague is coming back. And this time, there is no starry hero to save them. |
